Roles and responsibilities of the board

  • Ensure that the church operates in accordance with its purpose and mission
  • Approve church policies
  • Attend regular meetings while overseeing the key operational functions of the church – Managing performance, strategic planning, financial oversight (accountability in terms of provision of financial statements), Manage compensations (donations and sponsors)
  • Ensure legal compliance – ensure that the church comply with law and regulations, policies and guidelines that governs the NPC. (AGM, SARS, e.t.c.)
  • Ensure implementation of discipline to members of the church (not complying with the rules ,regulations ,not in moral standing of the church)
  • Monitor conflict of interest by putting policies and systems into place to ensure full disclosure of any potential conflict with the church
  • Ensure orientation and training of new board members on corporate documents and legal requirements.
  • Ensure non disclosure of corporate documents, information and key decisions taken during board meeting to the church without approval.
  • Attendance of meetings is key
  • Apology should be forwarded on time
  • Signing of declaration of interest is compulsory
  • Maximum participation is compulsory ( Strategic decisions)
  • Facilitate strategic planning sessions annually
  • Monitor ministries performance /progress on a quarterly basis
  • Ensure consolidation of performance reports on a quarterly basis
